ROCK Core Value #1
Casual Environment, Serious Faith
We purposefully have a Casual Environment at The ROCK. We believe that God accepts us just as we are, so you are welcome just as you are at The ROCK. While we have a Casual Environment, we also have a Serious Faith. We believe in God’s word and want each person to grow in their faith. God accepts us as we are, but loves us too much to leave us as we are. He wants us to have a growing, dynamic faith. We want that for everyone too. 1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT) People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
ROCK Core Value #2
Followers, Not Fans
We are committed to being Followers of Jesus, and not just his Fans. A fan is an enthusiastic admirer. It is someone who really likes something, but is not really involved. A Follower completely committed. A follower is sold out to the person they follow. We want to be completely committed to following Jesus. We want to be “all in”.
Matthew 16:24 (NLT) Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
ROCK Core Value #3
Pray Hard...Work Hard
We believe that we should go to God with everything in prayer. And we should pray boldly, persistently, and expectantly. We believe God will answer the prayers of His people. But we also believe that faith in God requires action. We pray like it all depends on God, but then we work like it all depends on us. We Pray Hard and listen for God’s direction, and then we Work Hard in following God’s direction.
Philippians 4:6 (NLT) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Matthew 5:16 (NLT) In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father
ROCK Core Value #4
Living The Blessed Life
We want everyone to be blessed. We want each person to be open to the full blessing of God in their lives. And God is ready to bless us, but we have to be prepared to receive God’s blessings. Our hearts must be open and attuned to God’s heart. In order to really be ready to receive God’s generous blessings, we must have a generous heart. We recognize that giving is an act of worship and is placing our trust in God above all else. We also see that we cannot outgive God. He blesses us as we give cheerfully, generously and regularly. When we do this, we will Live The Blessed Life.
Malachi 3:10 (NLT) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
ROCK Core Value #5
It Takes An Invitation
We understand that people need an invitation to join in. Whether it is to a birthday party, a wedding, or to church, it takes an invitation for people to come. We want to invite people to join us in following Jesus. We invite you to be friends with us, to join us at church and of course to enter into a relationship with Jesus. Sometimes each of us needs an invitation!
Revelation 3:20 (NLT) “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
ROCK Core Value #6
We Are Better Together
God calls us to community. We are Better Together! Together we are the Church! We are to be in fellowship with each other. We encourage and support each other. We help each other to grow in our faith and to follow Jesus closely. Together as the Church we can accomplish so much more for God that we could alone. We really are Better Together. 1 Peter 2: 9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
